Foreign Language Requirements

Students must meet the language proficiency standards set by this institute. Graduation requires meeting the standard for one of the following languages: English, Japanese, German, or French.

Credit Requirements

1. Minimum Graduation Credits: 32 credits

2. Maximum Credits for First-Year Master's Students: 11 credits in the first semester, 13 credits in the second semester

3. Credits for Elective Courses from Other Departments or University: Total credits shall not exceed 8 credits

Thesis Topic Declaration

1. Students should refer to the department website for the thesis topic declaration procedure [Graduation Procedures→Degree Examination Procedures for Master’s Thesis].

2. Students' thesis topic declarations must be reviewed and approved by their thesis Thesis Advisor. Declaration documents must be submitted to the department office before the application deadline of the current semester.

3. Late submissions will be processed for the following semester.

4. A minimum interval of one semester must elapse between thesis topic submission and the oral examination.

※ Fall Semester:

Submit by December 15

 

※ Spring Semester:

Submit by June 15

Graduation Requirements: Participation in Academic Activities

Students must meet one of the following requirements for graduation:

1. Attend at least 20 hours of institute-organized academic lectures or seminars, with no fewer than 4 hours per semester. (Note: If the activity is not organized by the Institute, students must provide proof of participation to the Institute Office for hour registration.)

2. Publish at least one individual paper in a peer-reviewed journal, academic journal, or conference with a full review system. For co-authored papers, recognition will be apportioned proportionally according to the number of authors.

These graduation requirements apply to new students enrolled after the 2012-2013 academic year and are not applied retroactively.

To be completed before submitting the thesis oral examination application.

Graduation Requirements: Academic Research Ethics Education Course   

1. Students must complete the course through the Taiwan Academic Ethics Education Resource Center website and pass the final test to obtain a course completion certificate.

2. For detailed  regulations, please refer to: NCCU Homepage > Office of Academic Affairs > Services > Master's and Doctoral Graduation and Departure Procedures > Academic Research Ethics Education Course.

Starting from the 2016 academic year, master's students (including early admissions) are required to complete the Academic Research Ethics course before the end of their first academic year.

Completion must be achieved before the end of the first academic year of enrollment.

Graduation Requirements: Language Proficiency Certification

Students must meet one of the following requirements for graduation:

1. English: TOEFL iBT 61 or above (or 500 on the old scale); TOEIC 605 or above; or passing the General English Proficiency Test (GEPT) High-Intermediate level.

2. Japanese: Pass the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N5 or above.

3. German: Pass the German proficiency test at Start Deutsch 1.

4. International students whose second foreign language is Chinese must pass the Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) at the Advanced Level.

5. Students who fail to meet the above English proficiency requirements may be considered as meeting the requirement if they take the TOEIC test three times with at least one score above 470, or complete over 200 hours of English language courses. Other regulations follow the original standards.

This language proficiency requirement applies to new students admitted prior to the 2015-2016 academic year (excluding the 2015-2016 academic year itself).

Must be completed prior to submitting the thesis defense application.

Students must meet one of the following requirements for graduation:

Passed the Thesis Originality Verification System Review

1. Thesis Originality Verification Standard: The Originality report of the full thesis will be reviewed by the Thesis Advisor, and students may only apply for the degree examination with the Thesis Advisor’s approval. It is recommended that the overall originality index be below 20%, excluding citations and references. This regulation has been effective since August 1, 2019.

Must be completed prior to submitting the thesis defense application.

Degree Examination Procedures for Master’s Thesis  

1. Procedures for student thesis defenses are available on the department website [Graduation Procedures → Degree Examination Procedures for Master’s Thesis]. The application deadline for the defense is subject to the department's official announcement for the current semester.

2. Students' thesis oral examination applications must be reviewed and approved by their thesis Thesis Advisor. Application documents must be submitted to the department office before the application deadline for the current semester.

3. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

4. A minimum interval of one semester must elapse between the thesis topic declaration and the oral examination.

※ First Semester: Apply by the end of December; complete the oral examination by January 7.

 

※ Second Semester: Apply by early June; complete oral examination by July 7.

Thesis Submission and Printing

1. Upload the electronic thesis file to the “National Chengchi University Theses and Dissertations Full-Text Image System.”

2. Print four copies of the thesis: two for the university (hardcover or softcover acceptable) and two for the department (softcover).

※ Spring Semester: Complete by March 1.

 

※ Fall Semester: Complete by September 1.

Graduate Institute of Labor Research Office

Graduation and Departure Procedures.

1. Prepare your student ID card, graduation departure procedure form, thesis academic quality agreement, and four copies of your thesis. Obtain stamps from all relevant university departments.

2. Collect your graduation certificate from the Registration Section of the Academic Affairs Office.

※Spring Semester: Complete by March 1.

 

※ Fall Semester: Complete by September 1.
