Students must fulfill the following requirements before applying for the degree examination.
1. Participation in Academic Activities
Students must meet one of the following requirements for graduation:
(1) Attend at least 20 hours of institute-organized academic lectures or seminars, with no fewer than 4 hours per semester. (Note: If the activity is not organized by the Institute, students must provide proof of participation to the Institute Office for hour registration.)
(2) Publish at least one individual paper in a peer-reviewed journal, academic journal, or conference with a full review system. For co-authored papers, recognition will be apportioned proportionally according to the number of authors.
2. Foreign Language Proficiency
Students must meet one of the following requirements for graduation:
(1) English: TOEFL iBT 61 or above (or 500 on the old scale); TOEIC 605 or above; or passing the General English Proficiency Test (GEPT) High-Intermediate level.
(2) Japanese: Pass the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N3 or above.
(3) German: Pass the German proficiency test at level A2.
(4) French: Pass the French proficiency test at level A2.
(5) International students whose second foreign language is Chinese must pass the Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) at Level 4.
(6) Students who fail to meet the above English proficiency requirements may be considered as meeting the requirement if they take the TOEIC test three times with at least one score above 470, or complete over 200 hours of English language courses. Other regulations follow the original standards.
3. Academic Research Ethics Education Course
(1) Starting from the 2016 academic year, master's students (including early admissions) are required to complete the Academic Research Ethics course before the end of their first academic year.
(2) Students must complete the course through the Taiwan Academic Ethics Education Resource Center website and pass the final test to obtain a course completion certificate.

4. Passed the Thesis Originality Verification System Verification
(1) Thesis Originality Verification Standard: The originality report of the full thesis will be reviewed by the Thesis Advisor, and students may only apply for the degree examination with the Thesis Advisor’s approval. The overall originality index should be below 20%, excluding citations and references. This regulation has been effective since August 1, 2019.
